My First Half Marathon

This  weekend Hub and I ran our first Half Marathon. Up until Wednesday I wasn't sure we were running it, but all along Hub was. Things fell into place beautifully on Wednesday and voila-registered!
I'm not a runner but I run. I don't love running but I run. I don't have the body of a runner, but I run and I'm not fast but I run.  I hadn't ever run 13 miles before. I had come close in our training, but we started training a little late and never got up to 13 consecutive miles.  Oh, well, Satruday came and I ran.

Here is my mile, by mile breakdown:

Mile 1:  Wow, one mile already!  EeeZAY!  I feel GREAT!!!

Mile 2:  Feeling GREAT!  No worries here. I think we may even finish faster than expected.

Mile 3:  Still good, why was I so afraid of this?

Mile 4:  Is that a cramp...no, not at mile 4

Mile 5:  Ok, wait, shouldn't that be mile marker 10?

Mile 6:  And....half way...almost.  Just one more 10K. I can do this.

Mile 7:  Can I do this? I feel....great?

Mile 8:  Why did that old lady just pass me?  Don't stop now-just FIVE MORE MILES!?!?!

Mile 9:  Whose idea was this anyway?  I feel (like I'm gonna die) great.

Mile 10:  Great, signs telling me not to give-up people are watching. Nothing like pride to keep you going.

Mile 11:  I recongnize this...are we still that far away?  Legs are hurting.

Mile 12:  I can do it! I can't do this!  Whose idea was this anyway-I'm not a runner....why didn't anyone stop me?

Mile 13:  I see the finish line. I'm almost there. People cheering, loud speaker, time clock, could it be?  Now smile dang it!

Day after...SO SORE!  Even after cool bath and lots of stretching.  Wow, was I sore, I almost didn't make it to the YW's closet after church the hammy's were so sore.

Two days after...that wasn't so bad. Which one should we do next?

Since it was just us...we didn't get pics, but I saw this on someone else's blog and looky who it is, right smack dab in the middle and I ran in right behind the people on the blog-crazy!

LOVE it! I didn't realize this was your FIRST! yay!! Good work! I'm sad I didn't get to see you before OR after. Kinda hard to talk much ACROSS the canal DURING the race. Boo. You should do the Rock N Roll next. Seriously, SO fun! And it's NOT a boring canal run like this one. It's so fun!

Good job!!!!!

Great job! 13 miles is a lot. I can do about 3 miles right now and that's my limit. Maybe someday...

This would be my first mile: Ok,what sort of injury can I fake to save face and get out of this dang thing?

I'm totally impressed. Now you can finally brag about something besides your designer jeans.
